Ignorance is no deterrent to Mr. Trump or newsies in the Boeing disaster.

Boeing caught a small break when Donald Trump tweeted his two cents on Sunday’s crash of an Ethiopian Airlines 737 Max 8. Many a talking head on TV no doubt instantly reverted from dwelling on the horror of the accident to the horror of Mr. Trump’s presumptively stupid and inappropriate comments.
Most Americans by now have probably figured out the kibitzer-in-chief’s tweets lack the force of policy, much less the force of law. Often they are aimed at making sure that whatever the media is talking about, it’s talking about Trump too. On the other hand, a great deal of journalism has been erected in recent hours on the basis of the Ethiopian crash being superficially similar to last year’s Lion Air crash.
