Media Profits and Politics

A FREE Press.  Equally imortant is an educated citizenry that can discern subtle or overt political manipulation from the various media . ALL MEDIA , ALL press will have its own spin supporting a given agenda. The press is not FREE. IT IS OWNED by someone who profits from it. It is good for profit to generate angst that drives emotion and sells the NEXT cycle of news. NOT UNDERSTANDING this makes innocent citizens contributing tools to a profit machine that has a political agenda.

This does not mean media is "bad". It means it is just one more industry in the world that benefits from a profit motive. What is bad, is to elevate the press/media to a level of sainthood and all powerful truth.  The enlightened citizen will appreciate the freedom to print and profit  and to present views  the owners embrace. They will also appreciate a sample of multiple media sources will better represent an approximation of truth after an educated filter of experience is applied.

As flawed as this is, and as hard as it is to filter for clarity of truth, the "free press" remains a better option than a controlled press. A FREE PRESS and a wide awake educated people is a good dynamic.
